Goal of the Week

Category

I am all about goals, so the week of October 2nd, I need some goals. I bit off a little too much last time, so hopefully I am able to get all of these things done this week.

  1. Buy a kitchen composting machine
  2. Use my new bow
  3. Set up outdoor composter
  4. Learn about taking down a garden

This week, I am mostly just trying out things and setting things up. I did buy the kitchen composting machine already, so I can knock that off the list.

Kitchen Composting Machine

I bought the Vitamix Food Cycler from Amazon. It was 349.99. As the week progresses, I will use it and tell you how it works. I love my Vitamix, so I am sure that this Kitchen Composting Machine will also be awesome.

Outdoor Composter

From Home Depot, I bought the most popular outdoor composter. It was $89.00, which was cheaper than the manufacturer’s website.

I began putting the outdoor composter together, and it was too difficult. There were just so many parts. I need to look at the instructions online, so this will help me do that by the end of the week.

The problem that I had setting it up was the exact problem that the instructions said I would have. When I set up the base, for the rotating composter, the base was too small (2 inches too small). My sister watched this video, which went through the problem that I had. Then, we were able to set it up without a hitch.

Using my New Bow

I have begun to use my new bow, and I love it. I am not sure if I need to adjust it for better aim. So far, I have never hit the target. I don’t know if that is because my arms are not steady or because I need to adjust the sight.

The next thing I need to do is get a license to use my bow and pay to hunt something. It seems like I am late at doing this so the only thing I can shoot is turkeys, but I will sign up to do that.

Learn about Taking Down a Garden

I did some research about taking down a garden, but I will dig deeper into this. My mom already took down the garden and since we will not have that property next year, we don’t have to be concerned with the prep for next year’s garden.

Okay, so the reason why I started this blog is that I need some accountability on my journey and websites do that. Thus, every Monday I will write down a list of goals that I must accomplish by the end of this week.

Here are the goals:

  1. Order a bow and target to begin learning how to shoot and hunt.
  2. Go to the lake and start learning how to fish.
  3. Rip up things in the garden that are not doing well and plant cauliflower, broccoli and spinach
  4. Planting peach seeds in pots to begin growing my orchard.

What might cause me difficulty with this list?

Bow and Target

  1. I have one buying – hard because I am intimidated by how much money I have been spending. (This is not valid. I have plenty of money.)

Fising

  1. I have an old fishing rod in my basement and I don’t know how to set it up. (I can buy new rods at the store and they can give me tips on how to set up the poll and fish.)
  2. I need to get a fishing license. (I bought one online.)
  3. Now, I need to find a store to buy my fishing rod and all of the things for fishing. At the same time, I could buy a bow and target. (I will go to Dicks and find out how what they recommend.)

Gardening

  1. I don’t know if I have to plant them from seeds or seedlings. (It looks like seedlings, but I can’t buy any because it is too late in the season.) I will have to grow them myself and hope that they do okay. Next year, I will have to grow these seedlings in August to plant at the beginning of September.)

Peach Planting

  1. I need to go home and plant my peach trees in pots. What is stopping me is that I don’t know if there is anything that I need to add to the soil or can I just us fertilizer and soil. (I just need to buy some potting soil)

Conclusion:

In my research, I started learning about taking care of fruit trees. I now need to go to Dicks and buy some seeds that we can reuse for broccoli and cauliflower.

Update on Progress

I had trouble logging into my website, so this is a bit delayed. What have I done so far?

  1. Bought two fishing rods and many things to go fishing.
  2. Went fishing

It was crazy. We wen’t fishing right after we bought the rods. Margaret, my 5-year-old caught 3 fish with her Barbie fishing rod. The last fish was a large bass. Message: Megan, don’t worry about this. I have this! Thank you, my Father for that sweet message. I praise you for all that you are doing to help us in this journey.

At Dicks, an associate directed me to an archery place. So, I will go there today. I think it will be fun for me to learn archery. I really have a hard time taking time for myself and I love sports, so this could help me just relax some times.

9/29/22

I think that I went a bit crazy with one week of goals. I tend to be a little over ambitious. That week, however, I did go to Pete’s Archery and found a great bow. Today, I finally purchased it. I will set up my target and begin to shoot. I should be able to do that throughout the fall.

The peach trees have not been planted yet, but I think that will happen this week.
